SOLO HYMNER CONCEPT (SHC) : History, Definition & Inference
HISTORY
Solo Hymner Concept is a Christian hymns performance innovation which was conceived on Thursday,10th March, 2022 by Daniel Afram (Danaf); The Missioner of Danaf Music Ministry (DMM) : A Ghanaian Gospel Musician; An Entrepreneur : The CEO of Danafsoft Solutions (DS); and the author of the book:"Guidelines To Examination Success" - ISBN : 9988-0-0912-7 / 978-9964-959-01-2 ( 1st & 2nd Editions).
He observed that: from the various church services, wedding ceremonies, funeral services etc. attended, for many years; most people are familiar with the first (1st) Verse of popular hymns and can even sing without referring to a hymn book or "Program Sheet". However, they are unable to sing the Verse 2, Verse 3, etc. of those hymns without referring to a hymn book or "Program Sheet".
He asked himself questions: Can someone really learn and sing most verses of popular hymns without reference to a hymn book? And the one who can really learn and sing these popular hymns be called? He started thinking about it seriously and made his mind to give a try in order to see how feasible it could be. After trying to learn and sing hymns for some days, he deduced that it was a very difficult task but attainable, and when developed could be used as a new christian music genre, and thereby contribute to the body of Christ and Christian music industry in Ghana, Africa and the world.
The answer to the questions are that, Yes, someone can learn and sing most verses of popular hymns without referring to a hymn book and the person shall be called a “Solo Hymner”. But the one who has pioneered this hymn concept shall be called "The Solo Hymner", which shall be his “Stage Name” as far as singing, performance and ministration of hymns without reference to a hymn book is concerned.
In order to champion the course of this hymn concept, He set a target to learn and sing first (50) popular hymns with at least “3 Verses” and at most “5 Verses” without reference to a hymn book. And thereby being able to sing hymns for at least “30 Minutes" non stop; So that he can then parade himself as a Solo hymner. In achieving this target, he embarked on the following actions :
(I) Getting Hymn Books (English Version) : Methodist, Presbyterian, Apostolic, Catholic etc.
(ii) Getting Audio CD's on hymns : Both Local and Foreign Christian hymns Music albums etc.
(ii) Getting Video CD's on hymns : Both Local and Foreign Christian hymns Video albums etc.
(iv) Downloading hymn lyrics from the internet : Microsoft Word, Pdf's, and other file formats.
(vi) Writing hymns "Verse by Verse" on a slice A4 Sheet for learning by rote and rehearsals
The average "Hymn Lyric Performance Accuracy" (HLPA) was ranging from (90% - 100%) wisely. With determination and hard work he was able to achieve the said target within ten (10) months, and can really parade himself as a "Solo Hymner". For consistency sake, he normally embarks on major review of rehearsing most hymns every fortnight in order to update and upgrade status.
